Thank you for your interest in the Reentry Simulation and Panel Discussion, co-hosted by the Education Justice Project (EJP) at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and the Restorative Justice Initiative (RJI) at The Pennsylvania State University.
This interactive learning experience explores the systems, policies, and institutions that shape the reentry process following incarceration. Through a guided simulation and facilitated discussion, participants will examine how multiple systems including housing, employment, education, healthcare, transportation, supervision, and identification requirements—can intersect to create challenges during the first 90 days after release.
The Reentry Simulation is not intended to replicate or represent any one person's lived experience. Rather, it is designed to encourage thoughtful dialogue about the structural barriers that influence successful reentry and to inspire participants to consider how they, their organizations, and their communities can help create more equitable pathways forward.
